The BEST Afternoon Tea

Afternoon Tea

Afternoon Tea at the Westin Hotel

Hello my lovelies! Its time for a very typical Ladypennyfeather post! Its time to hear me wax lyrical about yet another afternoon tea. BUT I promise you all, this happens to be my very, very favorite afternoon tea. It is drumroll The Westin’s Most Peculiar Afternoon Tea.

Why is this my favorite? It is a modern, topsy turvy take on the traditional afternoon tea! I posted a picture of the menu so have a little look and I challenge you not to feel your tummy rumble and your mouth water! The very best part is instead of tea, you’re served a mojito in a teapot, which is oh so hipster but still oh so sweet! And a more delicious take on a mojito I have yet to find!

The tea is served in the beautiful Atrium Lounge which looks like your sitting in an outdoor courtyard! So dreamy! It really is the perfect place to  while away the hours having girly chats and plotting to take over the world!!

Go grab your mother, girlfriends or reluctant boy and try it out!

The Merrion Art Afternoon Tea

Hello my lovelies! I think by now you all know I love my afternoon tea! Actually I think love is an understatement! So I was delighted when my family planned a trip to the Merrion Hotel to have their Art afternoon tea. First of all lets get the important bit out of the way. What did I wear?! I continued my obsession of wearing navy! I’m wearing a new navy coat from Zara (I’m obsessed with it), dress from Whistles, my Ash boots, Louis Vuitton scarf , tights from Tights Dept and Celine handbag.

Now on to the main event, afternoon Tea. The Merrion Hotel is beautiful, a mix of old world charm and modern art. The tea is served in the drawing room which is fabulous large room BUT I was disappointed to find our table was not nearly big enough for us and the seats were far too low. We probably would have asked to be moved to a different table if they had not all been full! Aside from this inconvenience we had a lovely afternoon.

The stand out pieces was the last course where the chef makes sweet creations based on art found in the hotel. This is what, in my opinion elevated it from an average to a something special tea. Another hit for me were the chicken and pesto sandwiches from the first savoury course. They were delicious and we ordered a second serving! I would definitely go back again but I’ll just be sure to reserve a larger table and higher seats!

Tea Haul!

IMG_3067 2Ok I admit it. I am a tea addict. If you didn’t know this about me you will by the end of this post! Now I love your standard cup of black tea with a drop of milk, but lately I have gotten really into herbal and caffeine free tea. I had a matcha tea phase a couple of months ago and now I’m in love with two new brands of tea; Teapigs and The Bluebird Tea Co.

IMG_3071 2 IMG_3073 2When I first went to The Bluebird Tea Co a whole new world was opened to me. The world of festive teas! I admit I almost cried with excitement. Combining my love for Christmas and tea? It seemed nothing short of a miracle! Needless to say I made an order at once! I chose; Christmas Cake, Mulled Wine, Snowball and Gingerbread Chai. They ALL taste amazing! I love each and every one but I think my favourite is Snowball. It tastes of chocolate, marshmallow and coconut and actually has little marshmallow in with the tea leaves! The Bluebird Tea Co is based in Brighton and I’d love to visit someday as they do tea blending workshops!

I have wanted to try Teapigs for AGES now. And I finally found a great variety for sale in the Merrion Shopping Centre in Dublin. Unfourtunalty the shop didn’t stock any of Teapigs festive teas but I tried some other blends instead! I bought Peppermint tea and Chamomile tea and then little sample versions of Teapigs Chai  tea and Popcorn tea. I love how they sell samples of their tea as they have so many unique flavours that I want to try! You can buy a little pack of two teabags as way of an introduction! I love the Chamomile tea especially. It has full chamomile flowers in it and won a Great Taste Award! I shall definitely be repurchasing soon! Coming up to exams the Chamomile tea was a real lifesaver!

If there are any tea lovers out there give these brands a go! You wont be disappointed!

Hello Everyone! I hope you’re all having a lovely summer! Last night I was at an amazing wedding at Killashee House in Kildare. I love summer weddings and the beautiful old country house was a beautiful setting for a celebration. I sipped cocktails and danced all night with my lovely family, what more could a girl ask for?!

Yummy sandwiches!

Before the dancing started my boyfriend and I went for afternoon tea in the hotel. Afternoon tea must be one of my favourite things in the world and I cant miss an opportunity to try it out whenever I go to a new hotel! It was delicious! There was far too much to eat though so we brought the leftovers back up to our room for a midnight snack!

My Beauty Products.

My Beauty Products.

These are the products that graced my face and body for the night! I went for a full coverage foundation with a shimmer and highlighter of my cheeks, a plum colored lip and beige and light brown shimmer eye shadow.

My dress is by fabulous Irish designer Mary Grant. Both my mother and I are obsessed with her clothes. I got this number in her pop us shop in Kildare Village a few months ago specifically for this wedding. I love it! I don’t have many full length dresses and this made me feel very elegant and ladylike!  My shoes are from Ted Baker and matched the dress better than I ever could have imagined! I wore a string of pearls and then a necklace with one big fresh water pearl which was made by my wonderful mother!

I was so happy with how everything came together! Usually I’m wondering if my hair will behave or my make up stay on but last night was one of those magical times where everything seems to go your way! Which left my mind free to concentrate of having a ball with my family! So until next time everyone keep enjoying the Summer! xxx
