What I Wore: Summer Day in College

Hello Everyone! So today before college my boyfriend and I decided to do a little photo shoot! I’m still so new at being in front of the camera I find it a little bit daunting! But I really want to start showing you all my everyday style so it has to be done! I muddled along anyway and here are the results. I’m happy at how it went seeing as it was about half eight this morning! I also just got a new camera a few days ago and my boyfriend is OBSESSED with playing around with it!

This is an idea of my everyday college attire. In case it seems weird to be attending college in July, Grafton Academy give you the option of continuing on over the summer to get a head start or catch up on work. Getting dressed in the mornings is probably my favorite time of the day. I make myself a cup of tea and then start going through my wardrobe and check out the weather forecast! I used to plan my outfits the night before to save time but in the last while I like to see how I feel on the day and be inspired by however I’m feeling! Today I felt like being comfortable and didn’t want to go for anything fussy. Compared to some days when I wear like a million underskirts and strings of pearls this was a pretty laid back outfit!

The dress is by an unknown brand I bought at second hand / vintage store Siopaella . Its actually one of my favorite shops in Dublin. A few days ago I found an All Saints dress I loved years ago and found it in perfect condition for thirty euro?! That’s the sort of thing that had me buzzing for days! My tights are from H&M and my shoes are Kurt Geiger (I know I’m obsessed forgive me). Bought about three years ago.

My necklaces are from a designer called Nick Hubbard.  I think everything from this range is so adorable and heartfelt. Every piece feels special and different, its well worth it to check it out!IMG_0240

And lastly here’s the part I’m least comfortable with, the close up! Here I am looking all shy and self conscious! Im wearing Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, Rimmel Stay Matte Powder, Rimmel Kate Moss lipstick in the shade 111, mascara from Bare Minerals and the rest is forgotten after a long day of two different college courses!

Now I’m off to make another cup of tea and have a little browse around the internet! Goodnight All! xxx

Top 5 Lip Products

1. YSL Rouge Volupte Shine

Oh YSL you just get it don’t you?! This is probably the prettiest product packaging I have ever laid eyes on! This is my all time favorite lip product.  The shade range is good, the colors themselves excellent. This shade is nicely pigmented but doesn’t have the staying power of a lipstick. Where this is a winner is the packaging, the smell (fruity mango), the colors, the glossiness, the hydrating. I actually cant do credit to what an amazing lip product this is! I use this for an everyday red lip. I would use something more dramatic like Mac’s Russian Red for a night time red.

2. Rimmel Lasting Finish Matte by Kate MossIMG_2292

I have this in the shade 107 which is a deep berry red with cool undertones. Its super pigmented and the texture is creamy, it’s also not too matte.  It has the incredible staying power I get from my MAC lipsticks. Its a really vampy red and I was worried it would look a little silly on my über pale Irish skin but after it settles it looks really sophisticated! Also for a drugstore lipstick I find the packaging super chic! See more details here!

3. Mac’s Craving

What would I do without Mac’s Craving? This is definitely my most worn lipstick. In fact see me any random day and chances are I’m wearing it. The color is just incredible, a pinky, plummy concoction of pure perfection! Its long lasting with a creamy texture and not overly pigmented. For me it is my holy grail of lipsticks. I will never not have one in my beauty bag! Its amplified finish makes it a dream to apply, one of those lipsticks I feel I don’t need a mirror to apply!

4. Rimmel’s Apocalips

Two Rimmel products in one post? They must be doing something right! Apocalips Lip Lacquer is a winner for me! This is the reddest shade Across the universe. I use this on its own or over a red lipstick for a serious pow factor. That being said a little really does go a long way and I never really have to put on a second coat when I first apply it. I wish it would have a little bit longer staying power. I do find myself topping up after a while which I don’t like doing with lip lacquers. But over all it is a great product. It feels nice on and doesn’t dry out my lips.

5. Bobbi Brown’s Desert Plum

Desert plum is my perfect shade to take me from day to night. Its looks equally chic during the day and bold enough for a night out. I love Bobbi Brown as a brand, for me they can literally do no wrong. I think they have one of the best range of lipstick shades out there. Its like a really old school lipstick, the texture and smell remind me of my mothers lipsticks back in the day! The packaging is so sophisticated and lovely, as with all Bobbi Brown packaging. The color is like a mixture of plummy, browny red, it feels light on the lips and I don’t find it flaking  at all! Only little downside, it could have a little bit of a longer staying power. But I can live with that for such a gorgeous, flattering shade!

So thats all for today! I hope you enjoyed my post and maybe found it just a little informative! Until next time! xxx

Hello Everyone! I hope you’re all having a lovely summer! Last night I was at an amazing wedding at Killashee House in Kildare. I love summer weddings and the beautiful old country house was a beautiful setting for a celebration. I sipped cocktails and danced all night with my lovely family, what more could a girl ask for?!

Yummy sandwiches!

Before the dancing started my boyfriend and I went for afternoon tea in the hotel. Afternoon tea must be one of my favourite things in the world and I cant miss an opportunity to try it out whenever I go to a new hotel! It was delicious! There was far too much to eat though so we brought the leftovers back up to our room for a midnight snack!

These are the products that graced my face and body for the night! I went for a full coverage foundation with a shimmer and highlighter of my cheeks, a plum colored lip and beige and light brown shimmer eye shadow.

My dress is by fabulous Irish designer Mary Grant. Both my mother and I are obsessed with her clothes. I got this number in her pop us shop in Kildare Village a few months ago specifically for this wedding. I love it! I don’t have many full length dresses and this made me feel very elegant and ladylike!  My shoes are from Ted Baker and matched the dress better than I ever could have imagined! I wore a string of pearls and then a necklace with one big fresh water pearl which was made by my wonderful mother!

I was so happy with how everything came together! Usually I’m wondering if my hair will behave or my make up stay on but last night was one of those magical times where everything seems to go your way! Which left my mind free to concentrate of having a ball with my family! So until next time everyone keep enjoying the Summer! xxx

Styling at a Photo Shoot

Model on steps of powerscourt wearing dress by whistles and kurt geiger shoes

Dress: Whistles, Tights: Marks ans Spencers, Shoes: Kurt Geiger.

Hello everyone! So two months ago I started a fashion styling course in the LA College of Creative Arts in Dublin. Its two evenings a week for three months and we get to style three photo shoots over three weekends. I thought I’d give you all a little peek into my second photo shoot and give you a run through of what it involved.

Dress: Malene Birger, Tights: H&M, Shoes Kurt Geiger.

The shoot is organised by the college and they provide us with a studio, a photographer and final year make up students to do hair and make up. We pick a theme for our shoot, organised and model and source clothes, shoes accessories, instruct hair and make up and props for the shoot. We can use our own clothes, buy them or borrow them from shops.

I chose a 20’s theme for my shoot. I think its my favorite decade. I absolutely love the style, the glamour, the music and the overall energy. So I took that enthusiasm and inspiration and created a mood board to go with the look, then I went through my wardrobe and pulled out all the clothes I thought were appropriation and narrowed it down until I had my two final looks. I prefer to use my own clothes than get them from shops.

For my first look I chose a navy and blue drop waist dress by Whistles which I bought in the Brown Thomas Christmas sales two years ago. Is one of my most worn favorite dresses! I paired it with layers of pearls I collected over the years (I’m a pear addict!), tights from Marks and Spencer and shoes I bought about five years ago by Kurt Geiger.

Then in my second look I chose a cream, lace Malene Birger dress I bought in Brown Thomas two years ago and a Hoss coat I bought in Avoca last Christmas. Hoss has been one of my favorite brands for years now. The shoes are also Kurt Geiger (slight obsession!) and tights from H&M. I think this is my favorite of the two looks, I just think the colors look beautiful together!

My photographer was Justin from Life of Reilly photography and oh my did was he amazing! I was a little nervous as it was only my second shoot but he was patient and helped direct my model and suggested poses. He actually had his work cut out for him! My model was my good friend Amalia who saved the day by agreeing to do this for me and had never had any experience modeling before! I cant tell by these pictures that it was her first time!

I was so happy with this shoot and CANT WAIT for my next and final one with LA Academy of Creative Arts! I’ll let you know how it turns out! I hope you all are happy and smiling and I’ll be back soon!
